What's It Like To Have A Relationship With God?

Hi, this John Beckett. Some of you have been asking, "What's it like to have a relationship with God?" This is such a great question, and maybe as a starting point, we can just think about the fact that He wants to have a relationship with us. That in itself is just amazing, that the mighty God of all creation, the God of the universe, would want to have a personal relationship with us. So with that realization, we might just think about what does a friendship look like with a person that we're really close to? Some of the things that come to mind here — there's a relationship of trust. You trust one another. There's an ability to communicate freely and openly with one another. You enjoy being in each other's company. You like the presence of that person. And these are some of the characteristics can come into a relationship that we have with God. Perhaps there is one that is totally unique. And that is that there can be such a depth of love for one another. God loves us regardless of ups or downs or whether we do all that He's wanted of us. And we can love Him no matter what. The scripture talks about loving God with all of our heart, and mind, and soul, and strength. And so those are really the bonds that form this extraordinary, close relationship that we can all have with the living God.
